Rapid tests are easy-to-use tests, usually performed at most sample collection centres, or in paediatricians’ practices, and provide a result in a few minutes. The test detects the possible presence of certain bacterial molecules using methods similar to those of pregnancy tests. Rapid tests using molecular biology methods have also recently become available commercially, providing faster and more accurate results in a few minutes.
