Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) involves the surgical placement of a tube that connects the stomach to the outside and allows medicines and nutritional mixtures to be administered. The skin around the tube insertion site must be checked daily for the absence of signs of infection. It is also necessary to check that the position and distance of the external skin flange on the tube match those recorded in the clinical documentation. The dressing must be changed daily for the first week, on alternate days for the following 8/10 days. Weekly dressing changes must then be carried out.

Our aim is for the patient and family never to feel alone, both in the purely practical management of PEG and nutrition and from a psychological perspective.
